St. Boniface now offers two Sunday services It took a while before the Lutheran and Old Catholic Church had finalized the process of agreement; but now it is final. St. Boniface is now meeting on the first and third Sunday every month for Holy Eucharist. We hope to become more attractive to people interested in English services in the Augsburg area. If you are interested, please visit us on either Sunday. We are hoping to continue Evening Prayer on the second Friday of the month since this evening service with fellowship in the Irish Pub following is highly valued among the members of St. Boniface. At the moment, however, Evening Prayer is on hold. Keeping Children Safe in Church Training at St. Boniface On Saturday June 28 five members of the Church of St. Boniface gathered at the parish hall of the Heilig-Geist-Kapelle in Augsburg to spend a day in training. Since St. Boniface plans to start with a regular Sunday School future Sunday School teachers and other interested members of the congregation met to learn how we as a congregation can make sure that our children are safe in church and how important it is to be sensitive to the needs of our children. For many it was an eye opener and we collected a lot of good ideas for the future. We are now looking forward to begin with a monthly Sunday School which is planned to begin when we have two services per month and a Sunday School curriculum. From left: Joline, Bruce, Connor and Keyleigh Risse with Dorothee+, back: Kai Risse and some of the godparents On May 24 the congregation of St. Boniface gathered for a special occasion: four children had been brought forward to receive the sacrament of Baptism, therefore becoming members of the Body of Christ. Over 40 people were in the congregation to welcome the new Christians into their midst. It was a celebration of great joy. After their Baptism, the children (ages 3, 5, 6 and 8) received Communion for the first time. |

As homework, with their parents the children prepared this picture to express their understanding of Baptism. The children did this wonderful piece of art moving from water through forgiveness to the Eucharist. The celebration closed with Coffee Hour - with lots of cake and talk. It was a joyous day for the congregation. “Kricket” and other games … …kept the members of St. Boniface running at their annual Parish Picnic on August 2nd. Thoughtfully, St. Peter kept the clouds away (or at least the rain) and the congregation enjoyed games for old and young. Strengthened by the food brought by all members, it was a sunny day inside and outside our hearts. |
