A warm welcome

The congregation of Holy Trinity Ingolstadt extends a warm welcome to English speakers of all denominations to join us in our monthly worship and fellowship. Whether you are in the area just briefly or whether you have lived in the region for years, we invite you and your family to come and be part of our parish community.

Who we are

Our first service in Ingolstadt was an Advent Evensong in December 1996 at the chapel of the Catholic University in Ingolstadt. In 1997 we started monthly services and since 2001 have held them twice a month. Services are also held at least twice a year at the Catholic University in Eichstätt.

From 1997 to 2004 we were guests of the Lutheran parish of Brunnenreuth at the Dreieinigkeitskirche in Baar-Ebenhausen, but over time demography changed and we discerned the need to move into Ingolstadt itself, so, in the hope that a more central location will attract a larger congregation, from now on we shall be celebrating our services and holding our social events at

                                                           St.Monika (Allensteinerstr.2)

off Königsbergerstrasse, Ingolstadt.

We are a community of various denominations and nationalities. The services are in English, but most of us (and especially the children) are fluent in German (and other languages).

Students from the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt continue to support the musical side of worship on special occasions, but we are increasingly using the developing resources of the congregation itself.

Family Services
We plan to have Family Services at least four times a year with everyone, including the children, contributing in some way to the worship.

Special Services
We also have a tradition of Animal Welfare Services around the Feast of St. Francis and have recently started to offer the occasional Healing Service.

Outreach and Social Events
We are very good at this! Social events like Quiz Nights, Tea Parties and Summer Fetes have enabled us to raise money for our youth to do voluntary service abroad and to support local charities such as the Knochenmarkspende Bayern and the Hospizverein Ingolstadt.

Fellowship
After all services there is an opportunity to get together for fellowship and light refreshments. If anyone needs more time, just contact the Curate for an appointment.

WE ARE HERE FOR YOU!
(however good or bad your English is)

INGOLSTADT UPDATE

This will be the last time that you will reading about our activities. It has been decided that God’s mission here has been accomplished after ten years of prayer and service, first in Baar-Ebenhausen and latterly at St Monika’s in Ingolstadt. Naturally, we are rather sad that our community will not be continuing in the present format, but we are also sure that there are other ways in which we can continue to worship and serve the Lord.

In order to celebrate what we have achieved here over the last ten years we are holding a final service at St Monika‘s on Sunday 13th May at 18:00, to which all friends are cordially invited. The service will be followed by a reception with refreshments in the parish room. You are all welcome to attend.

Our Italian evening in March finally took the form of smaller, more intimate gathering held at Denise Balatoni’s home with some excellent Italian dishes and lots of interesting conversations and encounters. The Palm Sunday service also combined the Good Friday readings, and on Easter Sunday, after the service, everyone joined in an Easter Egg Hunt, following clues to find the eggs hidden around the grounds.

For eight members of our congregation the big event has been the Mission Festival, held in Rastatt from 20th to 22nd April. Together with about 35 other adults and some dozen children and young people from missions in France and Germany we discussed, played, laughed, sang and worshipped in an atmosphere of friendship and harmony. Each Mission introduced themselves to the group in their own way, either with a power point presentation, with photos, with a little speech, or, as in our case, with a short sketch. For me personally, and, I think too for the other members of our delegation, one of the highlights was the encounter with the members of the Mission in Rennes, France. All but one were refugees from either Ruanda or the Congo. What they had to tell about their experiences prior to leaving their home country and about their efforts to establish themselves in Rennes was extremely moving and led us to the conclusion that any problems we thought we had were trivial in comparison. This was also a very good opportunity for polishing up our rusty French! The weekend concluded with a wonderful Eucharist service, with the children and young people particularly playing a large part. Our thanks to all concerned for the successful planning and organisation of this inspring event.

We wish you all the best for the future, and we shall still be around and hope to visit from time to time.
