Soup Kitchen

The Soup Kitchen is run by the Missionaries of Charity, the religious order founded by Mother Teresa. Here in Munich it is located at Harras. The Sisters provide hot meals and other support to needy people in Munich. Members of the Church of the Ascension community have supported the Soup Kitchen for many years. It is the longest running outreach programme at Ascension and is dear to the hearts of many parishioners.

Every year the proceeds from the Lenten soups is given to this soup kitchen. In 2023 Ascension raised €861,32.

Every year the women at the women’s retreat make up anywhere between 50 and 100 small gift bags, which are given to the children of the families at the soup kitchen.

Every year the outreach committee helps the soup kitchen by delivering doughnuts on Shrove Tuesday and groceries at Christmas.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

You can help deliver doughnuts at Fasching.

You can go along and help prepare food and have some fun with your fellow helpers.

Currently the soup kitchen requires regular help on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 14.30 and on Sundays from 15.30. The address is Plinganserstrasse 22, 81369 Munich. If you wish to help, we recommend telephoning 089 776281 beforehand.

You can help with the Christmas grocery shopping at the beginning of December. Ascension provides families with a bag of Christmas groceries so people can make a festive meal.
